April 29, 1926 – November 21, 2016 Margaret Conti Kummer, 90, passed away peacefully on November 21st at The Nathaniel Witherell, Greenwich, Ct., where she had once worked as a nurse well-loved by many patients. Margaret was the daughter of the late Marie and William McRae of Mullan, Idaho. Growing up in her home state of Washington, Margaret was inspired to become a registered nurse. As a young adult, she received her training through the United States Army and administered to the wounded of World War II stateside. Margaret is survived by two children from her former marriage to the late M. Joseph Conti: son Joseph William Conti of Greenwich and daughter Cynthia Conti of Charlottesville, Va.; daughter-in-law Laura Mangan; three grandchildren: Kristen Mackey (Will), Joseph Conti (Yeimi) and Nicole Leduc (Mike); and six great-grandchildren: Jack, Madison, and Brodie Leduc, Celine and Joey Conti, and Allie Mackey.A long-time resident of Greenwich, Margaret will be remembered for over 25 years of untiring and dedicated work at Greenwich Hospital and The Nathaniel Witherell. She was also an avid music lover and a talented classical pianist. Margaret taught by example and will be remembered for her grace, kindness, humor, perseverance and, most of all, a great love and devotion to care for all creatures’ great and small.
