Obituary for Richard Andrew Koellmer

Richard Andrew Koellmer passed away on March 16, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 16, 1937 to John Narin Koellmer and Marie (Fink) Koellmer in Greenwich, CT. Richard was a longtime Greenwich resident and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1955. He served in the Air National Guard and was stationed in Wyoming. Richard worked for NY Telephone, later Bell Telephone, Nynex, and Verizon. He started as a lineman and retired as a foreman. In 1958 he married his loving wife Josephine (nee Hobby). Richard loved his children and family, he enjoyed birdwatching, mechanics, guitar playing, and listening to country music. He also loved boating and fishing. He is survived by his wife Josephine, his children Robin (Dr. D. Barry Boyd), Betty ( John Castellana), and Susan (Luigi Pirri), his brothers Arthur and Philip, his grandchildren Anthony Stella, Brendan, Dylan, and Erica Boyd, Nina, Ambrogio, Johnny Castellana, Ashley Zeh (Matt), and Anastasia Pirri, his great grandchildren Michael Zeh and Mya Francetic. Richard was predeceased by his brothers Jack and Bobby. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 19, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Rd. #3, Greenwich, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday March 20, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave., Riverside, CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations are to be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, National Headquarters, 6520 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL. 33309-2132.
