Obituary for Louis Anthony Chiappetta

Louis Anthony Chiappetta
Louis Chiappetta of Old Greenwich, CT passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at the age of 98.

A native of Greenwich, Louis graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of Toledo before serving in the U.S. Army. He was director of the tax department during his 34 year career at Pitney Bowes and sat on the board of the Pitney Bowes Employees Federal Credit Union.

His life-long commitment to the community was reflected in the numerous organizations he served. In addition to sitting on the boards of the Knights of Columbus, The United Way and the Retired Men’s Association, he was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister. Louis was also known for his colorful bow ties, fondness for Florida winters and penchant for UConn basketball and Notre Dame football. Above all, he was known for being a devoted family man.

Louis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie Linehan Chiappetta, and their five children: Mary Louise Chiappetta of Fort Myers, Florida; Kathy Cone (George) of Killington, Vermont; David Chiappetta (Peggy) of Readfield, Maine; Claire Chiappetta of Dallas, Texas; and Laurie McShea (John) of Old Greenwich. He will also be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren: Lindsay and Robert Cone; Louis, Maddy and Dennis Chiappetta; and Jack and Caroline McShea; as well as his brother, Edward Chiappetta of Clearwater, Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Domiziano.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 11 at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside, immediately followed by a Mass and celebration of Louis’s life at 11 a.m.
